KIS. (Keep it simple)
Drill a 10mm hole in the middle of the scan-deck close to the seat, and lock it with an ordinary bicycle-string-lock.
My seakayak was stolen. So I wonder, if I can lock it somehow. Maybe I can use a pipe within a pipe. At the end of each pipe a fork, that have a branch on the upper and lower side of the deck - in both ends of the manhole. This will save my kayak - but not the world, sorry :)

Of course you would hide the GPS so any thief wouldn't know it was there...
Yes, GPS and "just" revenge. But I want to keep my things within sight. Furthermore, the thief can destroy the GPS and that leaves me where? So again - have you any suggestions on improving this locking device?
It seems that built in GPS trackers are gaining popularity. How about installing one of those? That way you can track your stolen goods to whomever took it, and be all like: "HEY MOTHER FUCKER! THAT'S MY KAYAK!" :D
